Persona

Project Cash Flow & Schedule Modeling Analyst

Remote (Worldwide)

We are looking for Project Cash Flow & Schedule Modeling Analysts to help our clients plan budgets, manage schedules, and align payments with delivery

About the role

Persona is where the world’s best companies and the world’s best talent meet.

We place exceptional people from 98 countries into full-time, long-term remote roles with the most ambitious companies on earth. Fortune 500 enterprises, fast-growing startups backed by Sequoia, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz, and high-performing companies of every size in between. Project management, operations, finance, design, marketing, customer success, and more. One person, one dedicated client, built to last.

The bar is the highest in the industry. More than 200,000 people apply every month, and fewer than 1 in 2,000 are accepted. If you make it, you join a network of people who have cleared a standard most companies couldn’t recruit for on their own, and you get the kind of role that’s almost impossible to find on your own: industry-leading pay set against your experience and skill, real career growth, and a stable seat at a serious company, working from home, anywhere in the world.

Persona was founded in 2018 by two Stanford graduates on a simple idea: talent is everywhere, but the systems that connect talent to opportunity are broken. We’re rebuilding them, and we’ve grown into one of the fastest-growing companies in the global talent industry doing it.

We hire people who care about the craft of their work, take ownership without being asked, and want to build a career rather than just hold a job. If that’s you, we’d like to meet you.

Role Summary

We are hiring a Project Cash Flow & Schedule Modeling Analyst to build and maintain the financial and scheduling backbone of a complex, multi-phase project through MVP delivery and Seed-stage planning. This role combines advanced Excel-based project scheduling with detailed budget and cash flow modeling: you will translate a work-breakdown structure into an integrated Gantt chart, map dependencies across workstreams, and tie each payment obligation to the task, milestone, or date that triggers it. This is not a traditional accounting role; it is designed for someone who can reconcile incomplete schedules, contracts, resources, and cost data into one accurate operating model. Ideal candidates come from project finance, project controls, construction, consulting, or professional-services environments and are comfortable independently building structure from incomplete information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a detailed three-phase budget and cash flow model, with cost roll-ups by workstream and task
  • Construct layered, multi-dimensional Gantt charts in Excel, including WBS hierarchy, parent/child tasks, assigned resources, milestones, percentage complete, and cost per task
  • Map predecessor and successor dependencies within individual workstreams and across the full project schedule
  • Reconcile overlapping timelines, shared resources, and complex subprojects into one integrated operating model
  • Identify the exact task, milestone, or date that triggers each payment obligation and map it directly to the project schedule
  • Tie fee breakdowns, invoices, contracts, and statements of work to the relevant workstreams, tasks, and deliverables
  • Update budgets and schedules as scope, timing, resources, costs, and project assumptions change
  • Document model assumptions and maintain a clear reference trail linking each fee or payment line to its source agreement
  • Work independently to organize incomplete inputs, surface discrepancies, and flag scheduling or financial risks early

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in project finance, project controls, financial modeling, schedule management, or a comparable analytical role
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience building and maintaining multi-layered Gantt charts with WBS structures, dependencies, resource views, milestone tracking, and task-level costing
  • Professional experience in budget or cash flow modeling, ideally for project-based or professional-services engagements
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, task dependencies, resource allocation, and cost tracking
  • Ability to reconcile schedules, fee structures, invoices, contracts, and statements of work into one accurate model
  • Strong organizational skills across multiple, highly interdependent workstreams
  • High attention to detail and a strong standard for financial and schedule accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously with evolving, incomplete, or unstructured information
  • Fully fluent in English
  • Ability to commit long-term and full-time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, consulting, or another complex multi-workstream project environment
  • Experience mapping contractual payment terms to project milestones and deliverables
  • Experience working with statements of work, service orders, fee schedules, and contracted deliverables
  • Experience integrating multiple subproject schedules into a consolidated master schedule
  • Familiarity with advanced Excel scheduling add-ins or comparable project modeling tools

Tools & Technologies

  • Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Excel-based Gantt chart tools or add-ins, project scheduling tools, statements of work (SOWs), fee schedules, invoice records, contract documentation

Core Competencies

  • Strong systems thinker who connects schedules, costs, contracts, and deliverables
  • Highly organized across complex and interdependent workstreams
  • Detail-driven with strong financial and scheduling judgment
  • Comfortable building structure from incomplete information
  • Proactive in identifying discrepancies, dependencies, and delivery risks
  • Clear and disciplined in documentation and model maintenance
